Titanium Poisoning

Example 1
A young patient, after a multiple fracture of the leg, had a Titanium pin inserted in her tibia which had to be removed, after approximately one year, as she complained of a burning and stabbing pain. A lump on the anterior tibialis muscle developed and then a discharge of pus occurred. Once the pin was removed all the symptoms disappeared.

Example 2
Another case of Titanium poisoning led the patient to developing asthma. When the pin was removed the respiratory problem disappeared. While the pin was inside her body she was trying to discharge through the respiratory tract.

Example 3
A patient’s system became slowly poisoned by two Titanium clips which had been surgically fitted for gynaecological reasons. Over the course of 10 years, she gradually manifested symptoms which, even though treated homoeopathically, were responding poorly to the treatment. I realised eventually that homoeopathy was only palliating a maintaining cause. It was decided that the clips should be removed and all the symptoms disappeared.

Musculo-skeletal
Cramps in feet/gastronemius
Sudden muscle spasm which would originate in the quadratus lumborum
Psoas spasm
Spasms within an hour would spread to the whole spine causing sideways antalgic position
Spasms would last up to a week and would spontaneously and totally disappear until the next episode. Originally they were monthly and over the last five and a half years it was twice a month
Would feel locked with severe restriction in movement of the spine

Ovaries
Pain near fallopian tubes
Stabbing pain
Stitching pain initially in the right groin. In the last six months affected the left groin
The spasms would often start, after the “ovarian pain “
Menses painful on day 1. Better when flow started, better for passing stools
Severe headache, so severe that it felt like a screw piercing through the head (occiput area or on the median suture of skull), would start when the flow started or when the menses stopped. The pain would last often until mid-afternoon until next day.

Would give stabbing colicky pains in the area of the hypochondrium and around the navel.
The pain which would start in the solar plexus, felt like an ulcer pain. The pain would be stabbing, burning, and would spread all down the intestines. Felt bloated, there was flatulence, had to bend double because of the intensity of the pain.
After 24 hours all the symptoms would clear.
In the last month, prior to the removal of the clips, it would take two days for the pain to disappear.
Stubborn constipation.
Loss of weight from 61kg to 52.4 kg in the last year.

How to help a patient affected by Titanium Poisoning
Since encountering Titanium poisoning in a number of patients, I have successfully prescribed the following remedies as antidotes:

  • Potentised Titanium Sulphuricum
  • Potentised Agglestone (which can be obtained from Roger Savage - roger.jo@virign.net)

I would also like to mention that Titanium is used in dental care and some surgical protheses.
It is used in the cosmetic industry: lip stick, sun tan cream, moisturising cream.
Titanium is also found in numerous hypolipidaemic drugs which contain titanium dioxide.
On many occasions one can read among the side effects of these hypolipidaemic drugs:

  • Rash
  • History of muscle toxicity
  • Myalgias
  • Muscle tenderness and pain

When the patient can be prescribed an hypolipidaemic drug which is titanium free, one can notice the disappearance of muskulo skeletal and digestive disturbances as well as rash on the skin .

Similar problems have also been experienced with other metals such as Cobalt and Chrome, which are used in dentistry (they can cause severe muscle spasms and skin irritation ).
